As president of CAA - The Hearing Place and a musician, I am well aware of the critical importance of the sense of hearing. I am also very aware that high sound levels permanently damage hearing with repeated exposures. MUSICIANS NEED TO BE CRITICALLY AWARE OF THESE FACTS.
Standard earplugs will reduce sound levels, but the frequency make-up of the reduced sound is drastically changed. This seriously alters the sound quality which musicians do not like. Standard earplugs reduce high frequencies far more than lows, resulting in a "muddied" sound quality.
Musician's earplugs, designed by Etymotic Research, reduce all sounds in essentially equal proportions. Doing so maintains the true sound integrity but at a reduced loudness.
MUSICIAN'S EAR PLUGS ARE A MUST FOR ALL ROCK MUSICIANS, PERCUSSIONISTS AND THOSE EXPOSED TO HIGH SOUND LEVELS FROM INSTRUMENTS AROUND THEM. THEY ARE ESPECIALLY IMPORTANT FOR YOUNG MUSICIANS JUST STARTING OUT.
Musician’s earplugs are custom molded to the shape of the ear canal giving a perfect fit. This provides comfort for long wearing periods. Special sound filters attach to the custom mold. These filters come in 9, 15, and 25-decibel attenuation ratings (25 dB being the most reduction). The amount of sound reduction can be changed by simply changing the filter.
